90g — Lalanalú, Barcelona (pink)
This yarn is part of Lalanalú’s own line, born from an eight-year dream of the studio’s founders, Eva and Kiara, to create a yarn carrying their own values: fully Spanish, with spinning and dyeing done locally too. The wool comes from the merino sheep of Ganadería La Huertona in León, where the flock lives outdoors year-round, sheltering only during snow or frost. The shepherd, David, looks after the sheep and shares photos of them grazing in the fields. It was developed together with Ramón of Wooldreamers, who guided the process from raw fibre to finished yarn. This is the dyed version of a pair of sister yarns, and carries much of the colour that gives Floris its life.
145g — Wooldreamers, Castilla-La Mancha, 50% Spanish Merino + 50% Andalusian Cotton (limited production)
This yarn came from a one-off, limited production run by Wooldreamers, (four yarns made in small quantity), two of which combined Spanish merino wool with Andalusian cotton grown in southern Spain. As with all Wooldreamers yarns, the wool comes from small local ranching families in Castilla-La Mancha.
55g — La Roulotte des Laines, France (pink)
This recycled bourette silk was bought directly from Christine Devost at a yarn festival in the mountains of France. Christine is a self-taught spinner and dyer, working with natural fibres of all kinds from her base in Teyran, in the south of France. Made from the short fibres left over after silk thread is reeled from the cocoon, this yarn gives Floris a subtle, irregular sheen and a fine variation in texture.
