Sierra

Two pillars in the woods above Sitges. Stone and terracotta, still standing. The arch between them long gone. The path remains. Forest behind, blue sky ahead.

A long, short-sleeved striped dress in white and light green. Reversible: one side opens into a deep plunging neckline or back line; flip it and it becomes a simple, clean collar. Two dresses in one. The yarn is Saona by Wooldreamers, a blend of 50% Spanish wool (Merino Entrefino and Manchega) and 50% cotton grown in Andalusia, dyed before spinning to give the yarn its characteristic heathered appearance. OEKO-TEX 100 certified.

Made as part of the #DesafioWooldreamer community challenge, launched June 2023, lasting a month.

Saona is a 2-ply fingering weight yarn made entirely in Spain by Wooldreamers, a fourth-generation family mill in Castilla-La Mancha. It combines 50% Spanish wool, a blend of Merino Entrefino and Manchega sourced from small local ranching families, with 50% cotton grown in Andalusia, in the south of Spain. The wool is dyed before spinning, giving the yarn its distinctive heathered appearance. OEKO-TEX 100 certified, with full traceability from sheep to hands.

Sierra was made in response to Wooldreamers’ #DesafioWooldreamer community challenge, launched on June 15, 2023, with a deadline of August 7. The challenge invited the crafting community to make a piece using Saona and share their process along the way. Sierra was started on June 28 and completed on August 4, three days before the deadline. A 37 days project with around 140 hours of work in total.
